Why a clinic stocks skincare at all
The honest reason, rather than the retail one. The two weeks after a laser or microneedling treatment decide a meaningful part of what you get for it, and during those two weeks your normal routine is the problem rather than the solution.
Retinoids, acids and exfoliants all have to come out. Freshly treated skin has no barrier and no defense, and going back to actives early is the single most common way someone undoes a good treatment with their own bathroom cabinet.
So what is needed is a small set of products that support healing without irritating: a recovery balm, a plain moisturizer, and serious sun protection. That is what we stock and it is why the recovery balm is the product that leaves with most patients.
The daily routine is the second reason. Maintaining what a laser course achieved is cheaper than repeating it, and sun protection does more of that work than anything else on the shelf.
What TriHex is actually claiming
Worth stating precisely, because peptide skincare claims are usually vague enough to be unfalsifiable.
The proposition is two-step: clear the degraded collagen and elastin fragments that accumulate in aging skin, then support the production of new fibers into that cleared space. The argument is that new collagen forms better where the old debris has been removed, which is a more specific claim than most and is the reason the line is used around procedures rather than only daily.
What we will not tell you is that a topical rebuilds structure the way a resurfacing laser or microneedling does. Products maintain and support. Procedures change. Anyone selling a cream as an alternative to a treatment is selling the wrong thing, and we would rather you spent the money on the treatment and used products to protect it.
Around a procedure, step by step
A week before
Actives stop. Retinoids, acids and exfoliants come out of the routine so the skin arrives calm rather than already irritated.
The first few days after
Recovery balm and gentle cleansing only. No makeup on day one after microneedling or resurfacing. This is the window that decides how the result heals.
Week one to two
Moisturizer and sun protection daily, still no actives. Sun exposure now can produce pigmentation that outlasts the problem you treated.
After two weeks
Actives return gradually, one at a time rather than all at once. We map this to your treatment dates rather than leaving you to guess.

What is TriHex technology?
The peptide blend Alastin is built around. The idea is to clear degraded collagen and elastin fragments out of the way before supporting new production, on the reasoning that new fibers form better in cleared space. It is the most substantiated thing in the line and it is why the products are used around procedures rather than only as a daily routine.
Why do you send people home with it after a treatment?
Because the two weeks after a laser or microneedling session decide a good part of the result, and normal actives cannot be used in that window. The recovery balm is what we most often send people home with. It supports healing without the retinoids and acids that would irritate freshly treated skin.
Do I need the whole range?
No, and we will not sell it that way. Most routines we recommend are three or four products. The most valuable thing that happens at a skin consultation is usually identifying what to stop using rather than what to add.
Where should I start if I buy one thing?
Sun protection, every time. In Orange County it does more for pigment and lines over ten years than any serum, and it protects the result of every treatment you pay for. The SilkShield includes an antioxidant layer as well, which is why it is the one we point people at first.
Is medical-grade skincare actually different?
It is not a regulated category and it does not mean prescription. What it usually means in practice is a higher concentration of active ingredient, a formulation designed to carry that ingredient through the skin barrier rather than sit on it, and stability, which matters enormously for vitamin C. Delivery is the part people underestimate and it is where the price difference is usually justified.
How long before I see a difference?
Twelve weeks for a genuine assessment, because that is roughly skin turnover. Judging an active at three weeks usually means judging the adjustment period rather than the product. Around a procedure the recovery benefit is visible much sooner, within days.
Can I use it with prescription tretinoin?
Yes, with sequencing. Tretinoin is the stronger active and it sets the pace; the Alastin products around it are supportive rather than competing. What you should not do is layer several actives at once, which is the fastest route to irritation and the most common reason people conclude medical-grade skincare does not suit them.
Do I stop using it before a treatment?
Actives yes, recovery products no. Retinoids, acids and exfoliants come out several days before laser or microneedling. The recovery balm and sun protection continue, and the balm is what you go back to immediately afterwards while actives stay out for about two weeks.
