Priced the same as Botox per unit, with broadly comparable unit counts. That is worth stating plainly because most longer-acting products carry a premium, and this one does not here. The decision is therefore about your calendar rather than your budget.
The arithmetic, done honestly
“Lasts longer” only becomes “costs less” if it removes a visit from your year. Here is how that plays out for the three patterns we actually see.

If you are in the third row, be clear about what you are buying. You are not spending less; you are spending the same and living with a consistent result instead of watching it fade for six weeks before each appointment. That is a legitimate thing to want, and it is not the same as saving money.
If you are in the first row, the saving is real and it is roughly one treatment a year.
What makes it last, and what stayed the same
The active molecule is unchanged: botulinum toxin type A, relaxing the same muscles by the same mechanism as everything else in this category.
What changed is the carrier. The other products are stabilized with human or animal-derived proteins. Daxxify uses a synthetic peptide, and that peptide appears to hold the molecule at the muscle longer before it clears.
Onset did not change. Three to five days to begin, two weeks for the real result. Same review point.
The feel of the result did not change. Patients switching do not report a different quality of movement, only that it persists.
Where we are cautious about it
Three things we would rather say before you book than after.
- Plan for 4–6 months
- Not the "up to 6" headline. Some reach it; the median is lower
- A poor result lasts longer too
- The reason we underdose a first treatment and review at two weeks
- Less long-term data
- Approved and trialled, but newer than Botox by decades
- Not the default first treatment
- For a new patient with no history we usually start with Botox
None of that is an argument against it. It is the difference between choosing a product and being sold one. If you want the most conservative option with the longest track record, that is Botox, and choosing it is not a downgrade.
What six months actually looks like
A longer product changes the shape of the year rather than the shape of the first fortnight. The early days are identical to any neurotoxin; it is months three to six where the difference shows up.
First four hours
Upright, no gym, no rubbing the treated areas. Identical to Botox, and the only window where pressure can move product where it was not intended.
Day three to five
Movement begins to soften. No faster than Botox, the longer duration is at the other end, not this one.
Day fourteen, the review
The real result and the visit that matters most with this product. Anything we add now, we add for six months rather than three, so the review is where we get conservative dosing right rather than a formality.
Month four to six
Where Botox would be fading, this generally is not. Most patients book the next treatment when movement returns rather than by the calendar, which for the majority means two visits a year.
If you are new to neurotoxin, that day-fourteen review is the argument for starting on Botox instead. Finding your dose on a three-month product costs three months if it is not quite right. Finding it on a six-month product costs six.
Who it suits
People for whom appointments are the friction. If getting in three or four times a year is the reason your results have been inconsistent, a product that needs two visits solves the actual problem.
People with a settled dose. If you know your unit counts and you have liked your results for a while, extending the interval carries little risk because the dose is already right.
Not a first-time patient. A first treatment is where dose gets found, and finding it on a six-month product means living with the search for longer. We would rather establish your numbers on Botox and move you across once they are settled.
Aftercare is identical across the category: upright for four hours, no gym that day, no rubbing the treated areas. Not appropriate in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a neuromuscular condition, or after a reaction to a botulinum product. The neurotoxins page compares all four.

How long does Daxxify actually last?
Plan for four to six months. "Up to six" is the trial language and some patients do reach it, but the median in practice sits below the headline. Against three to four months for Botox that is still a real difference, usually two treatments a year instead of three.
Does it cost more than Botox?
Not here. Daxxify and Botox are the same per unit, and unit counts are broadly comparable. That makes the comparison unusually clean: same price per treatment, longer interval. The question becomes whether you value fewer visits, not whether you can afford the difference.
Will it actually save me money?
Only if it changes how many treatments you have in a year. Going from three Botox treatments to two Daxxify treatments saves you the cost of one. Going from two to two saves nothing, and if you were already stretching Botox to five-month gaps and accepting the return of movement, Daxxify buys you a better experience rather than a lower bill. We will do that arithmetic with you honestly.
What makes it last longer?
The carrier. Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are stabilized with human or animal-derived proteins; Daxxify uses a synthetic peptide instead, which appears to keep the molecule at the muscle longer. It is the same botulinum toxin type A doing the same job, the delivery is what changed.
Is the onset slower?
No. Three to five days to begin softening and the real result at two weeks, the same as Botox. We review at fourteen days regardless of product.
Is it safe? It seems very new.
It is FDA-approved for frown lines and went through the usual trial program, so it is not experimental. It is genuinely newer than Botox, which has decades of use behind it, so there is less very-long-term data simply because less time has passed. If that matters to you, Botox is the more conservative choice and we will say so rather than steering you.
What if I do not like the result?
This is the honest trade-off of a longer-acting product and it is worth thinking about before you choose. If a result is not what you wanted, you live with it longer. That is precisely why we treat conservatively at a first Daxxify visit and review at two weeks, units can always be added, and with a six-month product the cost of overdoing it is higher.
Can I switch to Daxxify from Botox?
Yes, with no washout period. We convert your existing dose rather than restarting, and review at two weeks. Bring your unit counts if you have them. Most people trying it are doing so because three visits a year has become inconvenient rather than because anything was wrong with their results.
