Agnes RF for small fat pockets

Insulated needles that place energy into one small fat pocket and nowhere else. It is the treatment for a double chin too small or too defined for an applicator to reach.

Agnes RF treating submental fat at OC Weight Loss and Med Spa in Mission Viejo

Why a needle rather than an applicator

Agnes RF insulated needle placement

CoolSculpting works by holding a whole area cold through the skin, which needs a pocket large enough for an applicator to grip. Plenty of double chins are not that.

Agnes places an insulated needle directly into the fat. Only the uninsulated tip releases energy, so the heat goes exactly where it is placed and the skin above it is spared. That precision is the entire reason to choose it.

Which means it suits the small and defined, and CoolSculpting suits the broad and pinchable. A submental pocket that an applicator cannot properly grip is the clearest case for Agnes, and a full abdomen is the clearest case against it.

What to expect

  1. The appointment

Numbing first, because this goes below the skin rather than across it. The treatment itself is a series of precise placements and takes well under an hour for a submental area.

  2. Days one to five

Swelling, and more of it than people expect under the chin. Some bruising is normal. This is the stretch to plan around, so do not book it the week of an event.

  3. Weeks two to six

Swelling resolves and the area begins to look different. Fat clearance and collagen tightening both run in this window.

  4. Weeks eight to twelve

The result. One session is often enough for a small pocket; some people have a second at twelve weeks.

When we would send you elsewhere

If the fullness under your chin is loose skin rather than fat, this reduces the fat and can leave the looseness more visible. If it is a broad pinchable pocket, CoolSculpting covers more area for the same effort. And if what bothers you is a receded jawline rather than fat beneath it, that is a filler conversation rather than a fat one.

We assess which of those you actually have before quoting, because all four present as a chin that does not look how you want it to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers before you book

Does Agnes RF actually remove fat?

Yes, within a small defined area. An insulated needle places radiofrequency energy directly into the fat pocket, which damages fat cells so the body clears them over the following weeks, and tightens the tissue above at the same time. It is precise rather than powerful, which is what makes it suitable for a double chin and unsuitable for an abdomen.

How is it different from CoolSculpting for a double chin?

CoolSculpting works through the skin and needs a pocket an applicator can grip. Agnes goes below the skin into the pocket itself, so it handles small or awkwardly shaped areas that an applicator cannot hold properly. For a broad pinchable submental pocket either works. For a small defined one, Agnes is the better tool.

How many sessions?

One is often enough for a small pocket, with a second considered at twelve weeks if more is wanted. This is unusual in aesthetics and it is a genuine advantage of treating fat directly rather than through the skin.

What is the downtime?

Swelling for three to five days and it is more noticeable under the chin than people expect, sometimes with bruising. Plan around it rather than booking the week of an event.

Does it hurt?

The area is numbed first, because the needle goes below the skin. Most people describe pressure and heat rather than pain during, and tenderness for a few days afterwards.

Will the fat come back?

The treated cells are cleared and do not return. Remaining cells in the area can enlarge if you gain weight, so the result holds while your weight does. That is the same rule that applies to any fat reduction treatment.

What if it is loose skin rather than fat?

Then reducing the fat can make the looseness more visible rather than less, which is why we assess before treating. Agnes does tighten as it works, but where skin laxity is the main problem the plan is different and we will say so.

When will I see the result?

Swelling clears in about a week, visible change from around week three, and the full result at eight to twelve weeks as fat clearance and collagen tightening both complete.

One area, assessed properly
