For Ladera Ranch readers in a hurry: Ladera Ranch sits 12 minutes north of our Mission Viejo clinic via Antonio Parkway and the 241 toll. We see a lot of two-demographic Ladera households — the young-professional couple in their early 30s starting preventative Botox, and the parent in their late 30s and 40s who has been thinking about it for two years. Same clinic, same per-unit pricing, no different “treatment area” math depending on which you are. Saturday morning slots make the round trip plus Trader Joe’s at Mercantile West fit inside a single window. First visit averages 20 to 35 units, $11 to $14 per unit, with a free week-two touch-up if dosing missed.

Ladera Ranch is a relatively young community by Orange County standards — built out in the early 2000s, the median age sits in the low 40s, and the household mix is split between young professionals who moved in for the schools and the trails and families who have been there since the original 2002 to 2007 build-out. Both cohorts show up in our Botox consult slots, and both want the same thing: a result that looks like the version of you that slept well last week, not like a paused expression. The drive is 12 minutes south via Antonio Parkway to the 241 toll, dropping you at Crown Valley or El Toro Road into Mission Viejo.

The two Ladera Ranch Botox patients we see most
Patient A is 32 years old, lives in Avendale or Wycliffe, has noticed her “11s” deepen this year and wants to start preventative Botox before the line sets in. She has done her research, knows about onabotulinum vs daxibotulinum, and just wants a clinician who will not over-treat her on the first visit.
Patient B is 43, lives in Covenant Hills or Terramor, has been “thinking about it” since 2022, and finally booked because her cousin in Newport got it done badly and she does not want that. She wants a natural result and is willing to pay more per unit if it means a clinician who will say “no” when no is the right answer.
Same clinic, same approach for both: conservative first visit, honest assessment, week-two touch-up included.
Preventative Botox for the under-35 crowd
The case for early-30s Botox is mechanical. Repeated muscle contraction over decades is what etches dynamic lines into static lines. Reduce the contraction frequency and the etching slows. Patients who start preventative Botox in their early 30s rarely need filler for those same lines in their 50s. Patients who wait until 50 to start often do.
Dosing for preventative use is conservative — 16 to 22 units glabella, 6 to 12 units forehead, 6 to 12 units crow’s feet. Total first visit 28 to 46 units, $310 to $640 typical. Maintenance every 12 to 16 weeks. For deeper context, our neurotoxins guide covers the science behind it.
For the late-30s and 40s patient: the lines are already there
If your forehead lines, glabellar 11s, or crow’s feet are visible at rest (not just when you laugh or concentrate), they are static. Botox softens them substantially but rarely erases them. The honest expectation is 60 to 80% improvement in dynamic-line appearance and 30 to 50% softening of static lines. For deep static lines, we sometimes recommend hyaluronic acid filler in micro-droplets after Botox has had 2 to 3 cycles to relax the muscle.
A 2014 dose-finding study on glabellar Botox found that 20 to 25 units was the satisfaction sweet spot for moderate-to-severe glabellar lines (Brandt et al., Dermatol Surg 2014). The FDA label supports 20 units for the on-label glabellar indication.
What does the visit look like?
- 10 minute consult. What you want to address, what you are worried about, what your last Botox visit (if any) felt like.
- 5 minute facial mapping. We watch your expressions at rest, concentration, smile, brow raise. The dosing pattern comes from what we see, not from a template.
- 5 to 10 minute injection. 4 to 12 injection points depending on areas treated. Topical numbing optional.
- Aftercare instructions. 4 hours of no lying flat, no heavy exercise, no rubbing the area.
- Week 2 touch-up. Free. Pre-scheduled. Most patients do not need it but it is there if dosing missed.
What does it cost?
- Per-unit pricing: $11 to $14, transparent, no per-area “packages” that hide the dose.
- Typical preventative first visit (Patient A type): $310 to $640 for 28 to 46 units across 3 areas.
- Typical treatment first visit (Patient B type): $260 to $560 for 24 to 40 units across 2 to 3 areas.
- Lip flip: $48 to $112 for 4 to 8 units.
- Masseter: $440 to $840 for 40 to 60 total units, both sides.
- Touch-up at week 2: Included, no charge.

Ladera Ranch FAQ
I am 31 and have not had Botox before. How do I know it will look natural?
Conservative dosing on the first visit and a free week-two touch-up. We dose under, not over. If you can still raise your eyebrows partially at week two and the dynamic lines are softened, the dose was right.
My cousin in Newport had a terrible Botox result. What went wrong?
Without seeing it, the most common pattern is over-dosing the forehead without accounting for the glabella depressors below, which drops the brow and creates a heavy “hooded” look. Reversible — the toxin wears off in 10 to 14 weeks — but uncomfortable. Conservative dosing prevents it.
Can I bring my partner for a couples consult?
Yes. Several Ladera couples book back-to-back Saturday slots. Each consult is individual but you can be in the room for each other if you want.
Will Botox affect my training? I CrossFit at the Ladera box.
No effect on training intensity, strength, or recovery. We ask for no heavy exercise for 4 hours immediately after injection; resume normal training the next day.
How fast will I see results?
Onset around day 3 to 5, peak effect around day 10 to 14. We schedule the touch-up appointment at day 14 for that reason.
Is Daxxify a better option if I do not want to come back every 3 months?
Possibly. Daxxify (daxibotulinum) has reported median duration of 6 months in trial data, slightly higher per-unit cost, slightly different onset profile. We discuss it at consult and many patients alternate between onabotulinum and daxibotulinum visit to visit.
