What is Daxxify?
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is the newest FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A neurotoxin in the U.S. cosmetic market. It received FDA approval in September 2022 for moderate-to-severe glabellar lines — the vertical “11s” between the eyebrows. What sets Daxxify apart from Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin is its proprietary peptide stabilizer (RTP004), which replaces the human serum albumin used in older formulations and extends the duration of effect.
In the pivotal SAKURA trials, the median duration of meaningful effect on glabellar lines was approximately 6 months, with some patients still showing improvement at 9 months. By comparison, Botox and Dysport typically last 3 to 4 months. The trade-off: Daxxify takes 5 to 7 days to reach full effect, where Dysport can be visible by day 2. What to expect at your Daxxify appointment
- Consultation: We review your goals, treatment history, and any prior responses to Botox or Dysport. If you’ve never had a neurotoxin before, we’ll talk through whether Daxxify is the right starting point for your case.
- Assessment: Your injector evaluates the muscle pattern at rest and in animation, marks the injection points, and confirms the dose plan with you.
- Injection: Small-gauge needle, multiple precise injections. Most patients describe minor pinpricks. The injection portion typically takes 5 to 10 minutes.
- Aftercare: Avoid lying flat, rubbing the treated area, or strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. Resume normal skincare and makeup the next day.
- Follow-up: We typically check in at 2 weeks. If you’d like a touch-up at that point, we’ll add a small dose to balance the result.

Will Daxxify look different from Botox?
