How CoolPeel differs from a full CO2 laser
It is the same laser. CoolPeel and full CO2 resurfacing both run on our Tetra Pro. What changes is how the energy is delivered: CoolPeel uses a very short, superficial pulse that removes the top layer and leaves almost no heat behind.
Less depth, much less downtime. That is why recovery is two to three days of looking sunburned rather than three to seven days of visible peeling. The trade is a more modest result on deep lines and real scarring, which need a deeper treatment.
Most people asking for “a CO2 laser” want smoother, brighter skin without losing a week, and for them CoolPeel is the right answer more often than full CO2. We will tell you which one your skin needs.

What CoolPeel treats, and what it will not
- Good fit: rough or uneven texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, dullness, early sun damage and mild scarring. Southern California sun makes the sun damage cases common here.
- Pure color: if your only concern is brown spots or redness, IPL is gentler and usually better value.
- Deep lines and real acne scarring: these need more depth, so full CO2 or RF microneedling, sometimes combined across visits.
- Loose skin: no laser meaningfully tightens skin that has descended. That is a skin tightening question.

Fine flaking follows as the treated layer comes away. Let it come off on its own: picking lifts skin before it is ready.
Sun protection, every day
Freshly treated skin has no defense. Daily broad-spectrum SPF matters most in the first two weeks, because one unprotected afternoon can bring on pigmentation that takes months to fade.
Back to your routine
Retinoids, acids and exfoliants return only once the skin has fully settled. We tell you when at your follow-up.
When we postpone or say no
We postpone CoolPeel with an active cold sore or skin infection, a tan or recent significant sun exposure, recent isotretinoin use, and during pregnancy. A history of keloid scarring is a careful conversation rather than an automatic no. And if your event is under three weeks away, the answer is a later date rather than a lighter setting.

What is the difference between CoolPeel and a full CO2 laser?
They are the same device used differently. CoolPeel stays superficial, so downtime is two to three days. Full CO2 resurfacing goes deeper, treats more, and costs three to seven days of real downtime. Full CO2 also costs more than CoolPeel for the same area, because it goes deeper.
How much downtime is there?
Two to three days of looking sunburned, then light flaking. Book at least three weeks before an event so the skin has fully settled.
How many sessions will I need?
One to three. One session can show a visible change in tone and texture; a course of three is the usual plan for more sun damage or texture, which is why three-session packages exist. We would rather treat once, see how your skin responds, and plan from there.

What does CoolPeel treat?
Texture and tone: fine lines, rough or uneven skin, enlarged pores, early sun damage and mild scarring. It is not the right tool for loose skin, deep lines or significant acne scarring, and if your only concern is brown spots or redness, IPL is usually the better choice.
Is CoolPeel safe on darker skin?
It needs care. Any resurfacing carries some risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on deeper skin tones, and that risk rises with depth. CoolPeel is superficial, which helps, but we still assess your Fitzpatrick type first, may prepare the skin beforehand, and test a small area where it is warranted.
